Do I need a referral?
No, Osteopaths are primary care practitioners and you don’t need a doctor’s referral to see one. Just call to make an appointment.
What do I need to bring to an appointment?
If you have any x-rays or other scans that are relevant, bring them. Also if you have any relevant letters from a doctor, health care practitioner or specialist, they can be helpful when taking your history. If you are claiming under workcover, TAC or Veterans Affairs, you will need the appropriate claim details and referral letters.
Can I Claim under Work Safe, TAC or Veterans Affairs?
Yes, you can claim osteopathic services under Work Safe, TAC and Veteran’s Affairs; if you have an approved claim and relevant claim number, you are not receiving treatment under that claim from another allied health provider. Work Safe and TAC patients will have to pay for their appointment on the day and claim the rebate themselves from the relevant insurance provider. Veterans Affairs patients will have their claim processed by our staff and so will not be required to pay for their appointment on the day.
How Many Visits will I need?
This can vary depending on your condition. Your Osteopath will advise you how long he/ she expects your treatment to last. At our clinic it is common to need between 3-5 treatments to resolve most conditions, providing the patient follows the management plan prescribed. Some patients will need more visits some will need less. Our goal is to get you back to normal as fast as possible and provide you with some exercises and lifestyle advice to help you prevent your problem/ injury from coming back.
